are forced into the attic, you probably can't get to or use a ladder. The other option is to open an hole in the roof and climb out. Without some serious tools, however, that is pretty much impossible.

Going into an attic is a very poor decision, frankly. I can't imagine doing such a thing. If it appeared that there was any chance of the need to do that, I would have opened a hole in the roof while that was still possible, or have gone up there while there was still a way to do so safely.

I fear there are going to be many casualties in this disaster. Many more than there should be.

Bottom line: If someone tells me I should evacuate, I'd be heading to my vehicle and doing so. In five minutes, I could gather the important papers I might need, grab some clothing and my pets and be on the road. Why people insist in staying after such advice is beyond me.
