7. 3,000 people lost their lives due to Katrina.

The damage to Houston will be as bad as Katrina, but I think people were able to evacuate earlier than Katrina. There are more interstate highways in Houston compared to NOLA and Mississippi. I think the damage amount will be early equal to Katrina, some of these people are former Katrina evacuees....they left NOLA and moved to Houston to start over. That is gut wrenching.

If I hear another "official" say 'this is a 500 year event'. This is happening every damn year.
