Only Cowards Bring Firearms to Protests and Demonstrations [View all]

We saw that in Charlottesville, with the moron militia showing up with their AR-15 clones strapped to their backs. Pretty much everyone else, including the huge majority of people who showed up, came without armaments. That peaceful protesters don't go to demonstrations armed, however, does not mean that they are not armed, nor does it mean they are not ready for a fight, should things come to that.

Cowards bring arms with them out of fear. They don't actually intend to use them, and, in fact, generally carry them without loading them. Those arms are some sort of protection against the carriers' own fears. And poor protection they are, indeed.

From time to time, we hear warnings that this cowardly bunch is "ready for war," should things not go their way. That's extremely doubtful, really. I doubt they're ready for anything beyond their little intimidation games, but if they are, they will be surprised at how many of the people they loathe and mock also own firearms. Very surprised.

If cowards such as the ones we've seen, who break into tears when they are caught and brought to justice, actually start using those firearms, they'll be surprised at the reaction, I have no doubt. I wouldn't ever bring a firearm to a public protest, but if the cowards bring their arms to my neighborhood, thinking they will prevail, they will not be pleased with the result.

In my neighborhood, there are many people who have arms, but who are quiet about it. They don't display them as tools of intimidation or carry them to public gatherings. Instead, they simply have them and understand their use. 2/3 of my neighborhood is made up of Hmong families, who came to this country as refugees. The older people fought for the United States during the Vietnam war. Their children and grandchildren are hunters and know the elder's stories.

Then, there are folks like me, who served in the military in one place or another. Many of them also own firearms, but also don't display them, flaunt them or use them to intimidate. They will, however, use them to defend themselves, their families, their neighbors and the principles of this country.

Cowards should take note.
