1. Our beautiful state song of KY, "My Old Kentucky Home" used to be more offensive.

The line, "tis summer, the darkies are gay", was changed to "tis summer, the people are gay", about 30 years ago.

I said "more offensive" in that it is about selling slaves and sending them down the river. Seriously. Some people have actually tried to push the line that the song is actually anti-slavery. But it isn't and never was.
