2. My kids still live up there, I asked them for info of the fires.

Never saw this many forest fires in my life.

there have been dry spells before in the Cascades and Olympics, usually in August for a few weeks, usually more often in the Cascades. When I was a young kid, I remember warnings about no campfires, no chain saws, be careful with matches if you were going into the forests. Most people understood that.
and, you had to carry a shovel in your trunk....required.

State Patrol would check cars on the passes to make sure you had shovels in the summer, chains in the winter.
amazing number of old pickups with bald tires would be turned back.
