6. I think the show did a remarkably good job

capturing the important points of the characters and flow of the action without losing too much...up until this season. Season 6 passed the books' timeline and since then we have been in the "Cliffs Notes" version: packed with action with no nuance or depth.

Good news is there will still be good reason to read the books--assuming that Martin finishes them.
