3. Just a thought I had along these lines during Harvey...

So the "Cajun Navy" are awesome, my brother in law and several cousins were amongst them in Houston helping folks get to shelters. As amazing as those acts are, why the hell are we not appalled that our nation's neighborhoods are forced to rely on help from neighbors and other citizens when disaster strikes?? For what we've wasted on DoD contracts like the F-35 that still can't fly in the rain, we could have an entire fleet of boats and Coast Guardsmen/women ready to answer the call when storms strike and there would be no need for civilian response! Sadly I think the powers that be want to celebrate civilian sacrifice and donations to charities because they don't want a strong government. It's advantageous to them to portray government as weak and ineffective. Just my 2c!
