30s Germany was much smaller and impoverished. There was the need to survive and a need for something to blame. A perfect storm for a savior like Hitler.
The US is huge comparatively and is like a bunch of countries in one separated by economic and social inequality. Most Americans are abhorred by the idea of fascism, but some are not and many more are vulnerable to being controlled through stupidity or just plain apathy.
