I had been a DJ since age 12 and wanted in the music business. I met with him in his office on Music Row and asked him how I could get into the business. He told me to go to law school and I could come work for him.

In my first year of law school he had come back to Beaumont to see his mother who was 100 and had a heart attack while there. I was in town and joined my dad in a hospital waiting room waiting for news (he lived 3 days before passing). The second day in walks Don Williams with his wife, both in tears. Don was this man's best friend. He had been on tour in Europe, which he promptly canceled, and came straight to the hospital. We spent hours together in this small room. They were both wonderful people, I was very impressed with how down to earth he was, and he was truly a kind, gentle soul.

He was wonderful to the newly widowed wife, they went and stayed with her. She said he would just "pop in" unexpected to check on her ever since, even though she moved back to Texas.

RIP Don!
