He was a state representative before he ran for the federal office. He can be weak on some issues, but he is a solid Democrat and has done very good since getting into Congress.
Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) is not as liberal as I'd like but he is a solid Democrat and regularly votes for the issues that are important to me and against those I do NOT want.
And
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL). I don't need to say any more.
