In reply to the discussion: General lack of concern over the latest GOP ACA senate repeal [View all]pnwmom
(109,393 posts)Right now, in the next two weeks, the GOP is making a last ditch effort to kill the ACA.
If the ACA is repealed, that will support the GOP claim that people aren't interested in national health insurance.
This will REDUCE the chance of Bernie's bill, or anything like it, ever getting passed.
If we can keep the ACA, we can build on that success. If they destroy ACA, they're making it that much more unlikely that single payer will ever get through ANY Congress.
Put your laser focus on saving the ACA for the next two weeks. If we can save the ACA, then we can all shift to pushing for single payer.
ON EDIT:
Little old ladies are getting their medications paid for through Medicare. The ACA included measures for reducing the "donut hole" in Medicare drug coverage, and it is slated to be eliminated completely in two years -- IF the ACA isn't repealed.
And if this new ACA repeal is approved, far more will suffer than are suffering now. Not only will it end the Medicaid expansion -- it will drastically cut Medicaid overall (pre-expansion). It will affect everyone from nursing home residents to babies and everyone in between. You clearly have no idea how horrendous this ACA repeal bill is. It does FAR MORE than simply repeal Obamacare. It strikes at the heart of our Medicaid and Medicare system.
