(16,404 posts)would help those "little old ladies cutting pills in half." Little old ladies (and gentlemen) are on Medicare, which by GOP law cannot negotiate drug prices with pharma companies. Maybe you'd like to lobby your lawmakers to change that, if you really care about the issue. I assure you that pharma is deploying lobbying personnel and widespread campaign contributions to make sure the current policy remains in place. Btw, although the person in your example is a beneficiary of Medicare and not an ACA policy, the current ACA helps support and extend the long-term solvency of Medicare.
I don't know why you seem to think that fighting the imminent repeal of the ACA and working for universal healthcare are mutually exclusive. Many of us who are actually involved in this do both. I am getting ready to spend my Saturday doing this, instead of hanging out on the internet pretending to be "laser focused" while tens of millions of people stand to lose their health care if the GOP can flip a vote or two in the Senate:
