7. Imagine this...for a moment...everything exactly the same as this story depicts..except...

it is 1957, not 2017....say 60 years ago ...sometimes in the mid 1950s....12 years after the end of WWII..

If ..., and I say if............anyone had the nerve to wear an armband then, with the stark memory of WWII still around, and vets from that war around everywhere...the armband person would have been beaten to death..Now that ain't pretty, and Ammendment I....assures all in this country "free speech"..but that symbol, his armband, probably would have evoked major response in the mid 50s..

Now....if this jerk, had done this in Moscow..today...he would be beaten to death..no doubt about it. The memories of WWII are stark and real. Nazis and the German invasion killed 30 million in the old Soviet Union..or was it 35 million...Stalin didn't count...
