5. The irony of this situation is enough to make you shake your head vigorously in disbelief.

The people who so quickly and hatefully condemn the ones "taking a knee" (both literally and in spirit) forget the history of our country where the founders were protesting against King George and what they believed was unfair treatment by their governing entities. The very rights they so freely exercise without fear of punishment are held tightly in their fists and are not extended to other citizens who by our constitution should (and do) hold the same rights.

I have not attempted to engage in any conversation with these pig headed people because I have found through sad experience it is wasted breath. They simply cannot and will not look at the situation with anything that smacks of logic or reason. Their feet are firmly placed in concrete and they won't be moved. But it truly is sad the group think that can sweep through the nation (especially with social media) and nary a one of them stop to think about it for one second. They pull out the flag, get all teary eyed and, I venture to guess, if you quizzed them on the Constitution, couldn't have an indepth conversation about its meaning to save their lives.

All they know is THOSE people are disrespecting OUR flag and constitution. They are disrespecting our military. Huh? Explain how their exercising the very rights our military defends (among other things) is disrespectful. They can't and won't try. All they know is slogans and sound bites. And we have a so-called leader who is at the head of the pack. What a shame. A crying shame.
