The drop in television ratings, for one. Fewer kids in high school and lower grades are playing the sport, which means a smaller talent pool to draw from in the future. The second one will really hurt in the long run. But, given those factors, it's not looking good longterm for American Football. We've seen its heyday come and it appears to be going.
