They just didn't get the irony of the statement. I don't think that term any longer means a literal "son of," but instead stupid people have changed the definition just as hateful people attacking dictionaries have ruined words like decimate with their lies. They lie about the meaning so much that dictionaries, that record common usage rather than correct usage, are force to publish lies.
