but nobody besides their approx. 30% "base" actually loves them and/or their policies, but they've gamed the system so thoroughly and our side is disenfranchised in a lot of places that they are difficult to remove from their entrenched positions. Sort of like a stubborn stain that you can't quite rub out (but worse).
