(22,976 posts)But he was. Then, he was a mega-asshole who was going to be buried in the general election. But with the Electoral College b.s. and a Russian bounce, he landed in the White House. The fact that all current hope has been whittled down to Please Mueller, find some major dirt, and hurry! is pretty sad for a so-called democracy.
Im loathe to even say what hes not going to attain next, because 1) The fucking obscene amount of money that drives politics, especially the GOP sugar daddies; 2) The GOP brought us this goddamned mess, and one year in (with countless tRump lies, insanity, nepotism, gaffes, blunders, embarrassments, misdeeds, and personal profiteering under the belt), they are, for the most part, stony SILENT about this crisis (Hes learning), so theyre not about to do anything, especially when lifetime judgeships are being filled daily with far-right-wing ideologues; 3) The Electoral College has pretty much shifted weight away from large urban areas, and twice now, Democrats have been screwed; 4) The American electorate is getting dumber by the year high-school dropouts, no college, too many electronic diversions (decades of GOP cuts to education are starting to pay off for them).
If ever there was a time Democrats need to stick together, this is it. No Hillary vs. Bernie sideshows, no Russian clickbait, no Jill Fucking Steins. Whoever the nominee is, they need to be backed to the hilt, because this is it. Whether they run against tRump, or Pence, or some other Christianist-no-women-allowed-but-bring-your-weapons nutcase, that shit needs to be stopped cold. This is the last ditch, the last stand. If Republicans win in 2020, the United States, as it was envisioned, is finished. (I wish that was hyperbole. It is not.)
