are often present in early to mid-stage Alzheimer's. So it's not impossible that both things are going on simultaneously. I don't see this as an excuse for his behavior. I think we're witnessing a demonstration of the fact that these sadistic public policies of the Republican Party are a societal manifestation of severe mental derangement in the human species. And there are certainly people and institutions that are harnessing this human propensity for their own ends. The question we may live to see answered is, are the there other forces in humanity strong enough to have an effect on what happens?
