We now know that Trump does/says whatever he thinks will drive the news cycle, and he's won again. As Rachel Maddow, who spends little to no time on Trump's daily tweets, always says "pay no attention to what he's saying/tweeting, watch what he does". You can be sure that there's some really crappy shit going on behind the scenes while we're all distracted by this latest diversion. It's by design.
