Was Gen Kelly on active duty when his son died?
Would that matter?

I don't know.

I am not a military guy so I don't know how he would feel as a soldier and son a soldier serving under the then CIC, Obama. Perhaps protocol is in play

As a father though, I am almost certain he has feelings on the matter

Seems to me he is in a box
