He was a war correspondent for may years, then finally gave it up and authored a book titled "War is a Force that Gives Us Meaning: What Every Person Should Know About War" and 8 other books, his most latest being The Death of the Liberal Class (2010) and The World As It Is: Dispatches on the Myth of Human Progress (2011).
