(19,758 posts)I am a feminist. I went to engineering school when less than 10percent were women. I have always stood up for equality and freedom of speech/expression, equal pay for equal work in what had been a heavily male dominated work place. I have stood up for and supported women who chose to dress differently from the 'norm' at work. With that intro, at least a couple times a week I find the following Fox News syndrome wardrobe choices distracting me from my local news:
Huge sparkly chandelier earrings
Oversized fake eyelashes that make the newscaster blink a lot
Cocktail dresses (the kind that, well, would look gorgeous at cocktail parties and black tie events)
Over abundance super shiny lip gloss
Of course everyone should be able to dress as they choose, but I think there are some place-time parameters I'd still like to hold onto. Like Melania showing up to a flood in 8 inch stilettos and multiple wardrobe changes, it was her choice but it was a unnecessary distraction from the message to me.
