Madelyn Murray O’Hair, what I remember is that school sponsored prayer varied wildly nationwide, from none as you experienced to virtually constant and all day in some parts of the country.

The difference between how the school boards in two states next to each other treated the subject - Indiana and Illinois for instance, was dramatic.

Abington v. Schemp, the case Ms. O’Hair is most known for was from Pennsylvania
