In reply to the discussion: I just turned onto Fox News. It was really creepy...and totally bizarre. [View all]TrollBuster9090
(6,129 posts)23. That's the main reason I watch Fox News. Just for laughs. Especially on days when bombshell
when bombshell reports come out. I know it's a bullshit, propaganda network. But when a bombshell, anti GOP story comes out, I watch Fox to see the following things:
1. What lengths do they have to do TO AVOID talking about it? What do they have to talk about INSTEAD? How many straws do they have to grasp at to change the subject? (If they have some democratic party scandal that even has a small grain of truth to it...that's a good day for them. But if they REALLY HAVE TO SQUIRM to find something to ELSE to talk about, it's a bad day for them.)
2. I look to see how breathless they are, and how exasperated. If they can't be right, they at least can be LOUD. And Sean Hannity is LITERALLY SCREAMING at the camera these days, from the beginning monologue to the end of the show. That's a sign of real desperation.
3. I look to see how deep the ad hominem attacks are. That's also a sign of desperation.
4. Finally, I look to see if there are any cracks in the facade of pundits. Some of their panel pundits are more in the tank than others. People like Mollie Hemingway and Laura Ingram would NEVER say anything negative about Republicans and their masters, no matter WHAT they do. But there are one or two people who have a lower threshold, and, to save their own reputations, will actually start to say negative things if the scandal is bad enough. Chris Wallace and Shep Smith are the two hosts that will crack first. Charles Krauthammer is usually the first pundit that will crack. Good example: The day Trump was PRAISING KKK and NEONAZIS, Ingram and Hemingway equivocated and defended him, Krauthammer was the first to crack (%100 negative), ....but when I saw STEVE HAYES criticizing Trump, I knew they were desperate.
Fox FIRED George Will for being the first pundit to crack. A few others will be out the door soon. But it's alway fun to watch whether there will be a unified front, or cracks in the facade.
Put yes, absolutely, it's a brainwashing, propagandistic alternative universe to be sure. Here's my best example: remember that time when the GOP shut down the government after the 2012 election...JUST OUT OF SPITE because they were so pissed off that Obama won? EVERYBODY knew it was the GOP and blamed them. John McCain said "We're down to family and paid staffers" who are still with the GOP on the shutdown.
I turn into Hannity....and the fist words out of his mouth were "We're now into day three of THE OBAMA/REID government shutdown." WTF? That's right. Hannity was spinning a story to his idiot viewers that the shutdown was somehow Obama and Harry Reid's fault.
