9. So Muslim women who wear a scarf aren't allowed?

What about a Wiccan symbol? Had a friend at UCLA who routinely wore one--most had no clue that it had any sort of religious symbolism for her.

As for separation of church and state, I don't see Congress placing these things on her desk. At some point seeking secular purity makes it impossible for anybody but the ritually pure to participate.


Now, if this woman made it a big point to try to convince people, then it'd be like football players protesting on the job. Otherwise, it's just part of cultural America. One person will have a cat picture, one a religious icon of some sort, somebody else'll be wearing something that has ethnic-identity implications.
