17. Wow, when my kids were small a very dear friend's cousin was caught molesting a visitor to her

home. The child was two...Father caught him and tried to kill the man molesting his child. We had all hung out together for about five years. At first, she refused to believe it, but her son came forward and said it had gone on for years with him and also the sister although this man preferred boys of a certain age. He was a boy scout leader and they estimate he molested 40 kids. During his confession he said he attempted to molest my kids, but didn't ever have the time (I was a protective Mom and didn't leave my kids much and the dogs hated him) He had planned to fly down to GA to visit us in his private plane...and I think that is when he would have made his move on my five year old son...we had moved from PA to GA the previous year. It was horrifying. We put both kids in therapy just to make sure they were OK, but neither had a memory so we kept an eye on them for some time. Eventually, it become evident that it would not be a part of their memory, and I thank God for that. I went nowhere for years, quit church...it affected me. I looked at it after the fact and asked how could I not have known? I was lucky and so were my kids. I would add that this was 20 years ago with my oldest child, and the molester got four years in Pennsylvania. How is that possible?
