He was at 73% approval among Republicans last week in one poll. I checked the same poll for the approval ratings of W throughout his presidency, and he was over 80% for years among Republicans - usually high 80s or 90s - it wasn't until after Katrina in late summer 2005 that Bush dropped below 80% approval among Republicans. So, 3+ years of the Iraq quagmire and W was still over 80% with the GOP.
