what matters, in practice, is his approval among republicans.

ever since 2000, republicans have done fine demonstrating complete contempt for democrats and liberals, and politically they've done fine, provided that they have solid support from republicans.

what's really damaging to donnie is that *republican* support is slipping. it really needs to be 80+% for donnie to hand on politically.

if his support within the party is only lukewarm, that makes republicans in congress less afraid to speak out against him and get primaried.

*that* is when he's toast.
