Setting up another CON “think” tank or something? Stepping aside so he can hide behind his daughter and manipulate from an unseen and no-profile power position?

Seeing that “as of January 1” part, it suggests to me that he’s not jumping ship to try to outrun Robert Mueller or otherwise get outta Dodge. Seems to me if he thought (or got word that) he was facing trouble, he might be stepping down NOW, rather than wait til January.
