(2,541 posts)I like Hillary and voted for her as well in the general election, although Bernie was my choice in the primary. I respect so much about Hillary: her intelligence, her character, her ability to withstand so much criticism. But she was always so calculating and measured in her statements, I didnt get the sense she was passionate about her beliefs. And I wasnt always sure what some of her beliefs were. If she wanted to reign in abuse of power by corporations to strengthen the middle class, why did she accept corporate donations to her campaign? And if she wanted to protect consumers from a corrupt banking industry, why did Wall Street pay her a lot of money to speak to them (and later refuse to release a transcript of the speech)?
Bernie wasnt perfect and I didnt agree with him on every issue, but I felt like he was squarely on the side of the 99%. I wonder if he would have won the presidency had he been the Democratic candidare. We will never know. I dont think he should run again either.
So many here at DU are rabid in their support of Hillary and just as crazed in their dislike of Bernie. It really prevents an honest discussion of ways we could strengthen the party going forward or what we could do to appeal to different voters.
