(21,786 posts)It was Oswald. Recovered bullet and bullet fragments matched to Oswald's rifle, found on the 6th floor of the TSBD. Trajectory reconstruction based on the location and angle of the hits, the speed of the car, and the position of the occupants places the origin of the shots around the 6th floor window where Oswald's rifle was found (and where eyewitnesses saw a man with a rifle). Fun fact: the 1978 House Select Committee on Assassinations? They found that three shots were fired from the 6th floor of the TSBD, by Lee Harvey Oswald. Their finding of "possible/probable conspiracy" related to a supposed (but unproven) fourth shot, that didn't hit anything, and didn't exist in the first place because the conclusion was based on analysis of a Dictabelt recording from a police motorcycle...that, it later turned out, was nowhere near Dealey Plaza--the engine sound on the recording is from a three-wheeler motorcycle; there were none in the motorcade. Sirens aren't heard on the recording until a full two minutes after the assassination; the police motorcycles in the motorcade were going to Parkland Hospital at high speed with sirens on the whole way. AND the sirens on the recording display a marked Doppler effect...like they're passing by. So the ONLY evidence of "conspiracy" to emerge in any inquiries turns out to've not even been evidence.
