Seriously, I'm not sure what they expected, voting for someone that held such a view about immigrants.

side note: I've always considered myself a dem because R's violate my first rule of being human, that is assigning certain groups to non person status via racism, sexism and all the other -ism's. All the other stuff can be debated, but not the first rule of being human
