Roy Moore loses double digit lead, tied with Democrat Doug Jones in poll amid sexual misconduct [View all]

allegations

Judging by the first poll to be released since news broke of his sexual assault allegations, former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore could lose the Senate race next month.

Conducted Thursday by Opinion Savvy, AL.com reports that the DecisionDeskHQ-commissioned poll ended with Moore at 46.4 percent support among voters whereas his opponent, Democrat Doug Jones, had 46 percent.

Of the people surveyed, 82.2 percent said they had heard about the allegations publicized by the Washington Post, including one woman who claims Moore had sexual contact with her when she was 14 and he was 32, but regardless, nearly three-fourths of Republicans don't want their candidate to drop out.

The dead heat is a steep drop for Moore considering a poll released Wednesday that had him enjoying 51 percent of support to Jones' 40 percent.
