29. AR's are chambered in a wide range of ammo

From .17 Remington for varmints, 6.8mm SPC and .300 Blackout for deer, up to .450 Bushmaster for black bear. Outlaw one caliber and another will fill the gap fairly easy.

And FYI, most states allow .223 for deer and coyote hunting. Inside 100 yards with quality ammo, it will kill our big North Woods whitetail deer pretty effectively with a solid heart/lung shot.
