Earlier this week a Russian lawyer openly contradicted a Trump campaign claim, from Russia. Now Putin essentially calls Trump a liar hours after Trump spoke. Does seem like Putin may be trying to sink Trump.

The Republican Party, all of it, went full in to support Russia against charges of election meddling. Republicans cannot undo that. Putin likely realizes that he has a big swath of a whole party beholden to him and Russia, so he no longer need Trump.
