1. much too soon to take Alabama election for granted -- i would fully expect the GOP to engage in shenanigans of a scope and magnitude never before seen to hold the seat

2. Sen. Collins might be persuadable, but Sen. Murkowski is a very long shot at best -- if they stick with the GOP, which seems likely to me, i hope they can provide a modicum of conscience in what looks like a deplorable moral vacuum.
