4. they're counting on Democrats' propensity to don the sackcloth and ashes

I'm proud of the way that most Democrats don't try to excuse the bad behavior of their teammates, but I don't like the way it's being used against us. The right wing knows we'll fall all over ourselves to condemn this behavior, which is fair and good, but the thing that bugs me is that THEY KNOW THAT'S WHAT WE DO.

This is certainly not to excuse what Al Franken actually did. It was wrong and gross, and I'm horribly disappointed. But it is, what, 1% as bad as what Trump or Moore did? The picture is very offensive even as a joke (I mean, what kind of adult DOES that?), and the kiss was nasty, but it's not habitual pussy-grabbing or chronic pedophilic stalking. He shouldn't get away scot free, but he shouldn't be the one to pay the highest price.
