I have never claimed that increased firearms in circulation cause a decrease in crime.

All we can say is that we have had decades of ever-more-liberal firearm laws, plus increased numbers of firearms in circulation, and violent crime has continued to decline every year for decades now.

We can't say that increased numbers of firearms or more liberal firearm laws caused this, but it seems pretty unlikely that they hindered it.
