(34,189 posts)25. While I don't like Amazon, they have some software for download
For very good prices. I would trust that a seller on Amazon would be legitimate.
They have a download version of Microsoft Office 2016 Home and Student |PC Download for $129.99:
For 1 PC (Windows 7 or later, home use)
Fully installed Office 2016 versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote
NOTE: This version does not include Outlook, Publisher or Access
NOTE: Currently, this item is available only to customers located in the United States

They have Microsoft Office Home and Business 2016 | 1 user, PC Download for $204.95.
I prefer WordPerfect to Microsoft and the WordPerfect Office X8 Home & Student is $59.00:

There are older versions of WordPerfect Office available for even less.
Amazon also lists downloads of Apache OpenOffice 4.0.1 for $0.00

And LibreOffice v4.3 for PC for $0.01

You could also use Mint (Linux) for an OS and get out of the whole Microsoft thing.

It's definitely worth trying OpenOffice and LibreOffice before making a decision.

Having come from Win7, I absolutely detest Win10. If I could have gone back to win7, I would.

Look at possibly switching to Linux Mint and running LibreOffice, detach from Micro$oft.

I don't use Amazon because they are now suffering the same fate eBay did a couple of years ago.

No, every transaction is protected at ebay. They just don't get to run away with your cash.
