Anonymous complaints should not be believed unquestioningly for the simple reason that they could come from anyone, anywhere, and be completely made up, including their back story. They are insisting on anonymity because they claim to fear harassment on social media. Really? What about the brave women who came forward, in print and on TV, to complain about harassment and assault by the president of the United States? That takes guts, and greatly bolsters their credibility. But how can an anonymous complaint be analyzed at all?
I could sit here in my living room, make a phone call to a major news outlet and hand them some story made up from whole cloth that could destroy someone's career. How is that fair?
