(13,390 posts)Getting lost in partisanship and conspiracy theories is not helpful. The real story is that sexual harassment, in the form of groping has been so pervasive and as widely accepted as cat calling that decent people have done it.
The Weinstein scandal opened a can of worms that was bound to reveal sexist behavior among Democrats because it is a systemic problem, and a man problem. Powerful men have collectively maintained an arrangement that has protected and enabled varying degrees of sexual predation. Women like the Alabama gov. have also played a role.
We live in a culture that has been comfortable with that patriarchal arrangement. So much so that it has not been discussed until recently. Many women and some men are finally seeing that those humiliating moments should not have happened. It was never okay, but it was accepted as a fact of life. Turning the aggressors into victims serves to give cover to the next guy who gets caught.
