14. After a little googling, I found this

The Knight Templar cross/octagon, the KKK also use a red dot in the middle to signify the sacrifice and the blood of Jesus Christ. Notice how the shapes are triangles and form an optical illusion.
I will call this a vortex that visually draws the viewer inwards.

This is a hangover from the crusades and the KKK have taken and used the symbol and whereby the symbol/insignia was that of the Templar's , i.e. was the red and white cross that is hidden inside an octagon.

In addition, the Maltese cross (red and white/octagon) is also used as 'umbrella corp' in the video game Resident Evil.

So on one level the octagon is a 'temple' that symbolises/harnesses the fervour + magic + ability of the human being to manifest or battle other human beings,spirits, demons or monsters.
