21. There were no guns involved in the Bath School murders, the worst U.S. mass murder in a school . . .

38 dead elementary school children, two dead teachers, four other adults and the bomber himself; an additional 58 people injured. Most of the victims were children 7–14 years of age, slaughtered by a school board member outraged over a rise in property tax. The killer used explosives he wired into the school house over a period of months. When it was over, and the carnage was surveyed, an additional 500 pounds of explosives were found beneath the still standing portion of the school. Horrifying to think, but bad as Bath was it could have been far worse.
