If these were such serious allegations that they felt driven to bring them up now, with the hope that he'll mend his ways from one of today's accusers, then that would be the appropriate thing to do. That would bring legal consequences and accountability, and a degree of formal protection.
If they're going to subject him to the kangaroo court of public opinion, with its own tenuous evidential rules and no holds barred when somebody's professional, and most importantly activist, career is on the line, then they've chosen their forum.
So they have to bear the consequences.
And believe me, if I think someone's overstepping the mark, I'll probably have to join a queue of DUers taking issue with them.
What's more likely is that a welter of unevidenced allegations means that women will tend even more to be disbelieved when they've experienced serious abuse.
If you think people are cynical on here, you need to take a few steps outside your door - it's a rough old world out there. And the most cynical are those who're cheering this whole debacle on.
