Obama already warned Putin not to do so. So he knew they had the capability and he would absolutely call it out and expose it...its almost an act of war. But ultimately, Russia didn't have to, plus if it came out they did, it would have backfired severely. However, they did go through the "gray" area. They used data and exploited divides and fueled them. That's really not too different than what some campaigns do here, probably while knuckle dragger Dump doesn't think what he did was illegal.

However, this is the first time it was coordinated by a foreign power with a political party fully complicit. Collusion isn't exactly illegal either...but conspiracy is and no doubt there were quid pro quo's that came with Russia's assistance. But after the shit hits the fan, its a good bet collusion with a foreign government will be added as illegal.
