(10,375 posts)Tell me about it. The national Democratic Party sometimes details Texas Democratic activists to phone bank other states and I was assigned to call and pester people in Iowa.
I found the experience interesting. While the Iowa Democrats I called were more than willing to turn out and vote for Hillary, more than a few of them told me that they wouldn't vote for the Democratic senatorial candidate, but would instead voted for Grassley, treating him as a sort of elder statesman, despite the fact he was a Republican and had a Republican voting record. I knew my limits, I knew I couldn't persuade them otherwise, so I thanked them for their time, wished them the best, and went on to call the next person on my list.
Well, Charles Grassley has shown how he repays the trust Iowa voters of both parties put in him.
I can't help but wonder if all those Grassley might have done better to vote for Judas Iscariot instead.
