Can we do just a single good news thread? For my birthday? [View all]
It’s so grim lately, and I understand the need to not ignore any of the horrors we’re going through. But only acknowledging the horrors robs us of the fuel we need to fight them, the reasons for fighting them, the things that let us know we are beautiful and fragile and worthwhile.
In some ways this is an experiment. I’ll leave the OP up until the first negative comment, even if it’s a “but...” All positive responses to others’ good news welcome.
I’ll start. Through the unselfish, painful act of a good woman my kids have adopted a gorgeous baby boy. He is our joy. And today we have rare winter sun in Seattle. And the holiday lights are so lovely. And the birds at my feeder have become so familiar they’re neighbors. And we have enough, and a little to spare.
And I appreciate DU.
