A sacrifice was required to clean the path on that shaky moral highway. Al Franken was the sacrificial goat, not because he'd done something monstrous but because he had the audacity to admit his boorish misconduct was wrong, stupid and disrespectful. Confessions might be good for the soul but yesterday's sad result means confessions and/or apologies sure ain't good for a political career.
I mentioned this on another thread but Lawrence O'Donnell said something last night that struck me as very pertinent: Don't expect to find fairness in politics.
He's probably right. But it still sucks.
Like you, I don't expect this sacrificial act to accomplish anything worthwhile. We just lost a damn, fine Senator. Party on!
