Don't get me wrong, he's obviously had instances where his short term memory seemed bad, but in general, he's able to remember his bullshit controversies/divisive topics quite well (like the NFL crap, etc). Remember the unhinged speech after Charlottesville?
That being said, Trump does appear to have a generalized dementia taking hold, and that is a problem because he also (even before he was old) is an extreme narcissist who creates and believes his own reality. The result is that he is experiencing more and more confusion and difficulty in distinguishing between fiction and reality. He is also having a tougher time managing his response to having his ego bruised. For example, I think the only reason he changed policy on Jerusalem is because he wanted to stick it to Tillerson. That's irrational behavior due to his dementia and narcissism.
